Staying at a camp in Erg Chebbi is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the moment we arrived at the golden dunes near Merzouga, everything felt surreal. The silence of the Sahara, the warm welcome with mint tea, and the endless views of sand dunes create a peaceful and unforgettable atmosphere. The tents are beautifully designed—comfortable beds, private bathrooms (in luxury options), and traditional Moroccan décor that blends perfectly with the desert surroundings. At sunset, the camel ride across the dunes is simply breathtaking. Watching the sun melt into the sand is something words can’t fully describe. Dinner under the stars is another highlight. Delicious Moroccan dishes, fresh ingredients, and traditional music around the campfire make the evening magical. The staff are incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to make your stay special. Waking up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes is absolutely worth it. The colors of the sand change every minute—it’s pure magic. Highly recommended for couples, families, or anyone seeking an authentic yet comfortable Sahara desert adventure.

O acampamento era maravilhoso e eu o escolhi por que na descricao do mesmo informava que havia aquecimento. Reservei dois quartos e tive que pagar no alojamento 50 euros parea poder ligar o aquecimento (25 euros por quarto). Nao concordei com a cobranca mas tive que pagar para nao passar frio.

Side activities were ridiculously priced; so we chose to do our extra desert activities with another group before we checked in. Also wish that dinner time was a set time; we didnt have a heads up it would be so late and waited a while.

Unforgettable experience in the Sahara

Amazing experience in the Sahara desert! We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at erg Chebbi…the staff, the food, the luxury tents were all better than I could have expected. I was hesitant to spend such special days in the middle of the Sahara…but Erg Chebbi made it magical. The tents were also warm and comfortable in the cold winter desert. Sunset camel rides, Quads & sand boarding were iconic. They also served us a special lunch on Christmas Day with the dunes making an exceptional backdrop.

We had an issue with one heater on one night and they were not able to get it working, but we still managed to be comfortable enough with all the warm cozy blankets.

Exercise caution when making reservations at this establishment, as their reputation may not align with their actual practices. Customer satisfaction appears not to be a priority, which is disappointing.

A fantastic camp right in the dunes. Nothing fancy but clean, spacious tents, good food and friendly staff. Perfect for a family stay for a couple of nights, if you're not bothered by luxury.

Angenehmer Aufenthalt in der heissen Wüste

Unser Aufenthalt in der Wüste hat uns gefallen, Moha und sein Team sind bemüht die Wünsche der Gäste zu erfüllen. Das Abendprogramm am Feuer hat Spass gemacht und es gibt verschiedene Aktivitäten, die tagsüber angeboten werden. Nebst dem Kameltransfer gibt es auch die Möglichkeit, an einem Treffpunkt abgeholt zu werden.

Die Bilder versprechen etwas mehr als was man erwarten kann. Z.B. isst man nicht auf der Dühne, sondern im Zelt und es gibt auch keine Kerzen am Abend am Weg entlang. Laternen mit Glühbirnen sind vorhanden. Die Anlage macht aber einen gepflegten Eindruck.

Die Lage am Rande der Wüste ist toll. Die Infrastruktur aufrecht zu erhalten ist aufwändig. Das ganze als luxoriös zu beschreiben halte ich für übertrieben.

Der Hinweis, dass wir am Rande der Wüste abgeholt werden, kam 6 Wochen vor dem Aufenthalt per Mail. Darauf nochmals hinzuweisen wäre bei der Wegbeschreibung wäre hilfreich gewesen. Bei der Befreiung unseres Autos kamen sofort mehrere Einheimische uns zu Hilfe. Vielen Dank dafür. Dass der Fahrer unseres Resorts dafür, dass er uns den Weg zurück zum Treffpunkt vorraus gefahren ist, kräftig die Hand aufgehalten hat, (ca. 10 Euro Trinkgeld waren zu wenig) ist eine Frechheit.

Nuestra tienda privada no solo era acogedora, sino que también ofrecía una sensación de aislamiento, y el baño era impresionantemente moderno e impecable. La comida? Absolutamente deliciosa! Y la música alrededor de la fogata le dio un toque mágico a nuestra noche. Estamos deseando contarles a todos nuestros amigos sobre este increíble campamento!

Honestly one of the best nights of our Morocco trip. The private tent was amazing — clean, private, and surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. From the camel ride to the sunset and fire music, everything went perfectly.

No teníamos ni idea de qué esperar de nuestra estancia en el desierto, pero este campamento superó por completo nuestras expectativas. Slapen in de woestijn was een ervaring die ik nooit zal vergeten. Onze privétent voelde zo knus en prachtig ingericht, en de badkamer was brandschoon en goed onderhouden. De fonkelende sterren boven ons, de serene stilte en de attente service zorgden samen voor de perfecte woestijnvakantie.

Che esperienza indimenticabile! Il campo è stato assolutamente meraviglioso, con tende accoglienti immerse in uno scenario meraviglioso. Guardare il tramonto sulle dune è stato semplicemente mozzafiato e il giro in cammello è stato sicuramente il momento clou. La cena sotto le stelle è stata magica e il personale è stato incredibilmente cordiale. Lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque voglia esplorare il Sahara!

His calm and friendly demeanor immediately put us at ease, and his insightful knowledge of the desert and local culture made our excursions truly enriching. He was always interesting to talk to and ensured we had everything we needed. He expertly organized our 4x4 excursion and magical sunset quad bike tour. The camp was very comfortable, and the included meals were great. We highly recommend Erg Chebbi Luxury Camp and especially appreciated Mustapha's wonderful hospitality!

Wonderful luxury tent in the desert. I stayed in a desert camp before but chose a luxury option this time. It was worth it to have a real bed and private bathroom. The decoration is nice with comfortable clean towels, semi warm shower water, soaps, plugs to charge devices, nice lighting. We were brought to the camp in a truck (included in the price, already a good experience). I was hoping a camel or quad ride to the camp would be optional but there was no availability. For the high price this would be something I would expect. The dinner and breakfast were good. Vegetarian options were available. There is wifi but that works now and then. 4G connection works. It was great to watch the sunset and sunrise and to watch stars. There was entertainment by the fire with music. We did not participate, it is not our thing :D Either case, kind host and my nephew enjoyed it a lot.

Our stay in the desert camp was really nice. The staff was friendly and helped us with organizing a camel tour for us. The food was also great. We had a five course dinner and a good breakfast. The tent was not heated and therefore quite cold but they have really good blankets. Our highlight was definitely the birthday cake we got in the evening at the campfire. They organized it without charging us anything for it! We had a really great time in the desert!

We spent one night here at Erg Chebbi Camp in Merzouga in December. We arrived at their office in Merzouga town, where parking is available for anyone driving their own car. we were picked up from there with our luggage in a 4X4 to a nearby dune from where we took a camel ride. The 45-minute camel ride on the dunes to the campsite was amazing, with a 20-minute break to watch the stunning sunset amidst the dunes. Upon arrival, we were greeted with tea and snacks, followed by a delicious 3-course Moroccan meal with plenty of vegetarian options. The food was hot, fresh, and cooked on-site. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Although the heater wasn't very effective on a chilly December night, the high-quality blankets kept us cozy and warm. The only minor issue was the unpredictable hot water supply. The next morning, we woke and catch the sunrise, followed by a hearty breakfast. We were dropped back at the office in Merzouga around 10 am. Overall, Erg Chebbi Camp exceeded our expectations, offering an unforgettable desert experience.

An inpressive destination to experience Sahara

Located in the heart of desert and very clost to the big dune. The staffs are extremely warm and enthusiastic, tying all efforts to meet our request. Although we the only guest at that low season winter night, they still hosted firework and music dance for us. The food are soooooo delicous, better than average restaurant in Morocco.

There is no heating system or air conditioner in the room, so it was so cold after sun set.

This location, in the dunes on the edge of the Sahara, is one of the most memorable in many years of traveling. The backdrop, whether sand, blue sky or stars, is really stunning. There are many camps in the area but what made our stay so special here was the care and friendliness of the staff. From initial booking, to helping to get cash and locate our transfer on leaving, Mustafa and his team were kind, smiling and especially welcoming to Jack our teenage son. They serve food, drummed and sang for us under the stars and chatted over tea with winning charm and warmth. Throw in a sunset camel ride into camp and a once in a life time, exhilarating quad bike to the top of the dunes and our 2 days at Erg Chebbi camp was truly wonderful and very memorable. Thank you!!!

Remember you are camping in the desert; the staff do everything they can, given a remote location, to make it a luxurious experience.

Fantastic Desert Experience

We stayed with Moha and Mustafa at their camp for two nights. They considered us their friends from the very first moment. The camp was nice and clean, it felt really inviting every time we got back there. We had a day trip to the Nomads with camels, it was well worth our money since we had a real life experience how the Nomads live their life. They invited us for lunch and after we had the chance to climb the highest dune in the area. I would recommend this program to everyone! Last night we had a bonfire at our camp, our hosts showed us their local instruments and gave us a very nice time during the evening. Overall we had a really nice experience while we stayed with our friendly hosts, I would definitely recommend this to everyone who wants to have an insight how life feels in the desert.

It was magical! The camp is nicer than other camps we passed on our way because it was more intimate (as it has less tents). The tent is beautifully furnished inside so it was very comfortable. But the best part of our stay was the staff! Mustafa and the team really did everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Mustafa is such a nice person with huge knowledge about Amazigh culture and nomad life. He took us on a 4x4 trip around the area, showed us nomad village, beautiful lake etc. We are vegetarians and there was no problem at all, staff cooked us really delicious, vegetarian meals. In the evening, they performed traditional Amazigh songs around the fire and we could admire beautiful sky with visible Milky Way! Everything was arranged to our liking, we could choose the hour the meals were being served and when to go on different additional activities. The desert is beautiful and we will remember this stay for a long time! Big thanks to Mustafa!

We honestly liked everything about this camp!

A tranquil and peaceful desert charm

This was a really fabulous stay. Really had a great time. The desert is such a great place to stay if you are looking for some peace and quiet. We stayed for 4 days but 2 of them were taken up with travelling. The tents were just cool. Big open space with built in shower and toilet. I was very surprised with the tents. Hamid was really kind to us, making sure that we were comfortable in the camp. The camp doesn’t have many amenities so if you are looking for power supplies in the room or constant and continuous WiFi then be prepared. It was just great to unwind. We took a tour on the 2nd day that was just amazing. The bus dropped us at one location and then a car picked up to get to the camp. All was very smooth. I really recommend staying more than one night to really get the feel of the place and the desert. Oh and dinner was really good as well. Breakfast was tasty. Really enjoyed the whole stay.

Beautiful location amongst the dunes, secluded from other nearby camps. The size of the camp was just right, not too big! Tasteful decorations and the tents felt safe and comfortable, but not cookie cutter. Modern authentic aesthetic and not chintzy. Staff were exceptionally friendly and lovely to chat to.

Most relaxed stay in Morocco

There are two outstanding features that make this camp a delight - it is small (around 6 tents) so it feels very intimate, and it has fabulous staff. Saeed and Mustafa are relaxed, fun and genuine, and Ismail was a bright, intelligent camel travelling companion. If they ever came to the UK I hope I could show them the same level of hospitality!

If you want to drink alcohol it is worth warning the team in advance.

There was an issue where some bugs entered our tent, but the staff very kindly changed our tents and this wasn't an issue anymore. My bed was off kilter too, but overall nothing too bad. I'll say be ready for unexpected winds, they can get very loud in the night.

We loved our stay at the camp. the location is super good to explore the dunes. Breakfast eggs were delicious, the best we had in our trip. Dinner is very elaborate - 5 course. Kudos to the chef. We took the 4x4 excursion with Mustafa and we had a great time. he was very friendly and took us through the sites patiently. Also enjoyed the camel excursion.

Amazing, comfortable + such cheery and pleasant staff

The camp was amazing! Mustafa was our guide and he took us even to see extra things outside of the excursion. The tent is really nice and clean and the bed was comfy. The staff accommodates to your needs for when you want to eat. Saed was our waiter and the main worker at the hotel and he was so nice. He helped us with everything we needed and went above and beyond to make us comfortable.

The camel ride at sunset and the thrilling ATV adventure were nothing short of epic, especially the sunrise excursion, which remains etched in our memories. While I've encountered deserts elsewhere, the part of the Sahara where this camp is based is truly out of this world. It felt like stepping into a surreal, real-life screensaver. A piece of advice: consider extending your stay beyond a night to embark on a desert exploration tour. It provides a fascinating insight into the lives of the tribes and people of the desert. Looking back, we wish we had booked more than just a couple of nights – it's an experience worth savoring.

In the confirmation we get from booking, nothing was written about the cost of the transportation from the meeting point in Mergosa to the camp. therefore we were surprised to find that it is quite a significant cost. we therefore suggest the owner of the camp to add it very clearly to the details of the reservation in booking.

we loved it here! the tent was wonderful, with nice bed and sheets. the bathroom was clean. we enjoyed the camel ride to get there (25 euro! but worth it!), the dinner was great and breakfast too! after dinner they set up a fire and we sang together with the other guests! great experience! all the guys in the staff were nice, they helped us with every request! everything was so relaxed and beautiful!

The rooms here were amazing, there was even wifi! We had such good food and they were amazing with my girlfriend's diet and allergies. We watched the sunset over Algeria the morning.

We expected to be a bit closer to the very high dunes but we could only seem them from a little bit of a distance. I'm sure if we really wanted to we could've taken a camelride there if we stayed another night, but we were there only for a night.

Poor service in a magic place.

Poor service in a great, magoc location. The tents weren’t even cleaned after the first night. Only two or three staff members. Although very friendly, one could barely speak English or French which made communication quite hard. The other staff member (Mustafa) spoke basic English. Nevetheless, the staff was very friendly and caring about our comfort making their best to make our stay memorable. They were clearly doing their best. They were 10 stars and this rate has nothing to do with their will to do the best they could for us. We took the desert trip excursion and it was a complete flop: it completely lacked what we valued the most, which was to spend some time driving in the Erg Chebbi dunes. The 4wd car was in poor condition and we were taken to hot touristic spots that for me were of no interest whatsoever. A waste of a time that was suposed to be spent enjoying all the beauty of a very special place. At most we spent 10 minutes out of 4 hours in the dunes. As an example of the poor service, on our second day the tents were not cleaned nor done. I want to be clear that the camp staff has no responsibility on this, i believe all goes down to poor management. During the two days not a single contact from a manager or a more senior person trying to figure out how things were going. We had to pay for the lunch on our second day and it was suposed to be included.

Mostafa was more than accommodating- he went above and beyond for us - I had a special request to go by camelback to a high dune at sunset where I would propose to my now-fiancé - he set up a table on a big Berber rug with wine, nice tablecloth etc and timed the sunset perfectly - then as a bonus he took professional-level photos of us throughout the experience. We really had a perfect experience there.

Best part of our trip to Morocco

We loved the desert experience we had here. We were met in Merzouga by Mustafa and his team where we took the camels to the far side of the dunes, stopping for about an hour for the kids to play on the dunes and watch the sunset. Then we arrived at the camp. Our belongings were waiting for us and our tent prepared. The hosts are incredible. The food at dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations (and was probably the best we had on our whole 10 day trip). The hosts are also musicians and played some traditional music for us in front of the campfire. Well worth the drive to Merzouga, it was the best part of our trip to Morocco.

There are heaters in the tents, but the hot water is turned off in the night, so they do not do much.

disclaimer: it is quite commercialized and feels quite overcrowded on a relatively small patch of sand. (nothing to do with this camp, but applies to all camps). We would still recommend it as a special and authentic adventure, where you get to experience the sahara desert with an amazing view of the stars/sunsets/sunrises/dunes!

Thank you Moha, for the very warm welcome. We really loved your camp!!! The camp is within walking distance of one of the tallest dunes so we were able to hike to its peak on our own which was wonderful. We recommend staying at least two nights to do the hike!

Desert Fun

This was the only camp I could find that had heated tents. We were there in December, so that was important. It was clamping at its finest. The food was excellent and they understood about my gluten allergy.

Don't rent the quads unless you are an experienced driver. The boys take you on an advanced course and don't seem to understand the dangers. Cracked two ribs, ow!

The most comfortable accommodation we had during our trip in Morocco: a heated tent with hot water and a lush bed. The food was excellent and plentiful. The camel ride was well organized with a very friendly guide.

Parts of the team stayed in the tent opposite us and enjoyed themselves with a bottle of wine and music, including noisy lovemaking until late at night. We had imagined the silence of the desert differently.

The hosts are amazing. Make sure you arrive at the right time to take the sunset camel ride, and go back on a 4x4. Both are extremely fun, with the car going up and down in the dunes. In the evening, the fires are lit up, and drums and music are also amazing. Not to mention the dinner, it is the best Morrocan food we had!
